European Funding

The Irish Sea Maritime Forum and many of its supporters are actively seeking to be involved in projects supported by European Regional Development Funds (such as INTERREG) and other sources such as Horizon 2020.

Following on from the ISMF’s 2014 Conference on Blue Growth we have put together a prospectus of project ideas that were drawn up by conference delegates on the day and would like to invite further expressions of interest in developing these ideas into concrete proposals for funding.

We are planning to organise a Partner Cafe event in Autumn 2015 to bring together organisations interested in bidding for funding for networking and project development. If you are interested in working together on any of the ideas presented in our Prospectus or wish to be notified about further details for the Partner Cafe please use the form on our Contact page.

The Atlantic Action Plan
In 2013 DG MARE of the European Commission published it’s Action Plan for a Maritime Strategy in the Atlantic area, which aims to revitalise the marine and maritime economy in the Atlantic Ocean area. It shows how the EU’s Atlantic Member States, their regions and the Commission can help create sustainable growth in coastal regions and drive forward the “blue economy” while preserving the environmental and ecological stability of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Action Plan outlines four priority areas:

  • Promote entrepreneurship and innovation;
  • Protect, secure and enhance the marine and coastal environment;
  • Improve accessibility and connectivity; and
  • Create a socially inclusive and sustainable model of regional development.

Stakeholders from across the whole Atlantic Area are encouraged to make use of European funding opportunities in order to support these priorities. A Support Team for Atlantic Action Plan has been created to provide information and support to stakeholders wishing to engage in the implementation of the Plan. The Support Team has network of focal points in each of the Atlantic Area countries (Portugal, Spain, France, the UK and Ireland) and a coordinating office in Brussels.

Contact details for members of the Support Team can be found HERE.
