Registration for this event has now closed.

The 2016 Irish Sea Maritime Forum Biennial Conference aims to bring stakeholders together from across the Irish Sea Region to provide an update on ISMF activities and share experiences related to key areas of maritime interest. The dual themes for this year’s Biennial Conference are Maritime Spatial Planning and Managing Dynamic Coasts.

The morning session will focus on Maritime Spatial Planning. It will introduce the European Commission’s new Maritime Spatial Planning Directive and provide an update on marine planning in the different jurisdictions across the Irish Sea region. It will also explain how authorities are working together in these activities and opportunities for stakeholder engagement.

During lunch delegates will have an opportunity to learn more about the MSP Challenge Game, which has been developed by a team in the Netherlands and is being adapted for use in Scotland.

The afternoon session will focus on the challenges involved in managing dynamic coasts. A series of contributions will explore the environmental, social and economic challenges facing particular communities and how collaborative working across the Irish Sea to address issues of shared concern can be facilitated.

At the end of the day delegates will have the opportunity to join a guided walk of Dun Laoghaire seafront to learn more about the challenges and successes of this dynamic coastal town.

This conference is free to attend.
